How You Can Avoid Joining the Failing Masses in Internet Startups

The thing about starting a business… any business… is that there is no guarantee of success under any circumstances. An Internet business start-up is no different.
Even big international businesses can fail at new business ventures. The huge dot.com failures in the nineties taught us that, without a doubt. Failure is always an option but the possibility of success can be optimized.
You can optimize the possibility of success by:
1. Research your market. This will be your first step toward success. Learn everything you can about what business you desire to start on the Internet. Gather every available statistic there is and make sure what you have chosen is feasible. This can be very simple to do and can get you off to a very successful start right out of the gate.
2. Having a good solid business plan in place BEFORE you launch your online business. There is an old saying: “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”. A detailed set of plans for success needs to be made. You need to have the steps from getting from point A to point B listed in great detail that include realistic cost estimates for accomplishing each step.
3. Expecting to work very hard to accomplish your goals. You must never expect anything to be easy. You will be right most of the time because things are rarely as easy as they look. Each step toward success requires work, time and patience. Sometimes things don’t work out right on the first try. You have to be willing to try again and again until you do succeed.
4. Not falling for ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes. The Internet woods are full of those who prey upon those who are looking for quick and easy ways to become rich. Those ways do not exist. Get over thinking that there is an easy way. There is NOT.
5. Learn to stay focused. Once your plan is in place and your working your chosen Internet business ‘focus’ will be your number one ally when. You are the only one that can do this so it will take a great deal of discipline. Keep a regular and strict work schedule and demand those around you adhere to it. Constant interruptions will be a quick recipe for failure. After all if you worked outside the home, people wouldn’t think about interrupting you there for fear they would get you fired. Make them understand this is the same thing, no focus no money.
6. Don’t try to go it alone. Have someone you can work with or at the very least consult with if you get stuck. While the Internet maybe the “Information Highway”, it still helps to have someone to rely on that is familiar with the type of business you are starting.
7. Balance. While you want to work hard and keep focused… don’t do it at the expense of taking care of yourself and your family. If you don’t feel good then you won’t be able to accomplish your goals. Eat meals with your family, take time to exercise and have fun as well. Give yourself regular hours and days off. While staying focused requires a strict schedule, balance will be the ingredient that will give you the ability to stay with it at your scheduled times. It will help you feel refreshed and ready to take on what is needed done.
Remember those statistics! Ninety percent of all new internet businesses fail in the first 120 days. You don’t have to be part of that majority. You can become a part of that 10% minority of successful internet business enterprises.
